Salt Lake Temple
charcoal 18x24
Drawn the summer after I left high school (2001), the Salt Lake Temple was only my third work in charcoal. I had been sitting on the idea of drawing the temple at night for some time, as the exterior lighting is so dramatic and creates the contrast that is so visually captivating. It was also my first project with a building as the subject. I spent 50 hours drawing it, making it the most time-consuming project I had undertaken up to that time (by more than 30 hours).
